We have a new team member that you will want to meet! Yariv is a seasoned engineering leader with a wide range of technical expertise who will make our mighty Luma team even more awesome.
As an early employee at both Facebook and Uber, Yariv witnessed and contributed to the rapid growth of two of the most successful Internet companies in the world. He doubles the engineering experience of the Luma team, and we are super excited to work together (again!) to deliver many more great products to you.
I first met Yariv when I joined the Uber growth team in 2015. He was leading the Experimentation Platform team, which had built a tool that many teams at Uber have used to run A/B tests and intelligently configure the app's behavior for different user cohorts. Yariv has later led the rider growth engineering team and contributed to AI research to provide you more accurate ETAs every time you take a ride.
Let's take some time to get to know Yariv better.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I've been interested in computers since I was a kid. I first got hooked on playing games and later I took my first programming class in BASIC at a young age. I've programmed in many different languages since then. I've always enjoyed the creative process of solving puzzles building software that improves people's lives. I was fortunate that what started as a hobby of mine has opened up career opportunities for building products that have made a positive difference for many people around the world. I'm excited to start the newest chapter of my career at Luma with you and Victor.
What do you do for fun?
I have a few hobbies: long-distance running, playing guitar, and reading books (I've gone through a long non-fiction phase but I've recently returned to fiction). Since I became a father, I've spent most of my non-work time with my kids. One of my favorite activities is building Legos with them. I loved playing with Legos as a kid and I'm now rediscovering it as my older son started enjoying them.
What makes you most excited about our mission at Luma?
At Facebook, I was excited about building tools that help people become more connected. At Uber, I was excited to create new flexible earning opportunities for people. Luma's mission encompasses both. It enables anyone to host virtual events, sell tickets or offer subscriptions, creating new personal connections and empowering people to build new types of businesses. In particular, it's a lifesaver for those whose lives are being disrupted by COVID. I'm excited to be part of the team who's helping some of those affected, and making the future more meaningfully connected.
Lastly, we are hiring! Do you see yourself here? Come join Yariv and us to shape the future for online community and businesses! Check out open positions now.
